ABOUT ME

Carolina Esguerra Colborn was prominent in Philippine business before she migrated to the US in 2004. She was former President/CEO of BayanTrade, the eprocurement hub of the Philippines, Managing Director of SAP Philippines, Deputy Commissioner of the Bureau of Internal Revenue, General Manager of MegaLink, the ATM switch of banks, and Vice-President of the Development Academy of the Philippines. She also worked for Andersen Consulting (now Accenture), IBM and NCR. She holds a BS in Mathematics, MBA, and DPA abd from the University of the Philippines.

In industry, she became President of the Philippine Computer Society, founding Chair of the Information Technology Foundation of the Philippines, and founding President of the Knowledge Management Association of the Philippines. In the Southeast Asian Computer Confederation, she was Chair of the Special Industry Group on Professional Standards and SEARCC Expo 1990, a biennial convention. Twice a recipient of the Most Powerful Women in IT Award, she also represented the private sector in the National Information Technology Council.

Carolina settled in Seattle, Washington where her eldest daughter lives. While babysitting her grandson, she taught at the Seattle Central Community College, Central Washington University, and Renton Technical College. She also volunteered for SCORE, the Service Corps of Retired Executives. In 2007 she met Bill Colborn on the Net. Soon after their wedding at 8 pm on 8/8/08, Bill sold his business and they started a 4 1/2-year cruise of North America in an RV. She maintains a blog on their travels, rvcruisingliestyle.blogspot.com, five posts of which have been published.

Thrust into a white community, Carol not only soaked up America’s sights in 49 American states, 9 Canadian provinces, and 6 Mexican states. She also immersed herself totally into American culture and history. Within the cozy confines of a 350-sq. ft. motor home (when the slide is out), lessons came as fast as the scenes changed. She not only learned how to be a good wife (something she had not managed to do before) without losing her identity but also became an American, without losing her Filipino roots!

The couple now rest between travels in Phoenix, Arizona.
